The Fraunhofer Pilot Plant Center PAZ
The Fraunhofer Pilot Plant Center for Polymer Synthesis and Processing PAZ, which opened in June 2005, is a joint initiative of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research IAP in Potsdam-Golm and the Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructures of Materials and Systems IMWS in Halle.
The location in ValuePark® Schkopau within the Central German Chemistry Triangle looks back on a nearly 80 year tradition, in the plastic processing field, that gave us the motto “Plastic and Elastic from Schkopau”. Today, many national and international companies are located in the ValuePark®.
At the Fraunhofer PAZ, on a 1700 square meters’ technical and laboratory center, we develop new products and innovative technologies along the entire value chain from monomers, polymer synthesis and polymer processing to testing made-to-measure components for our industrial partners. With our flexible and modern facilities we extrapolate tailor-made polymer synthesis and processing procedures at an industrial scale.
Our team consists mainly of chemists, engineers, technicians and laboratory specialists. The balanced mixture between research and practice, of creativity and experience allows us to develop and efficiently implement new approaches and imaginative solutions.
The Fraunhofer PAZ is a major player in the plastics industry network. For instance through the POLYKUM e.V. or the Cluster Chemical/Polymer Central Germany.
