Equipment for Polymer Synthesis

In the Polymer Synthesis Plant, 350 main items of equipment, 850 MSR-facilities and 940 pipelines are available on area of 600 square meters spread across three floors.

Personnel can ensure, through the available staff structure a short to middle term 24 h operation. This also makes it possible to produce sample batches in one digit tons.

Synthesis lines

With the available facilities, a variety of polymerization procedures can be depicted in our synthesis center, including:

Analytics

For the analytical determination and evaluation of polymers we carry out the process related analytics on-site. Furthermore, both the Fraunhofer-Institute IAP and IMWS have extensive analytics experts.

Measuring methods available on-site

  • automatic dilution viscometry
  • particle size measurements (laser diffraction)
  • rheology measurement (rotational rheometer −120 to 400 °C)
  • double bond and group determination through titration
  • GPC in various solvents (amongst others HIFP)
  • GC to residual monomer / solvent determination
